591 ROAD SAFETY SESSION FOR SLUM CHILDREN

Chinchwad (Pune), 3-May-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the Children at Saibaba Nagar in Chinchwad. 44 students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Limited.

The session started with the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Staff-DBDS). Mrs. Asha Dhange (Traffic Police Dept.) was the resource person for this session. Resource person covered various topics on road safety such as:
· Obey Traffic rules
· Drive adjacent to the left side of the road
· Pass or overtake the vehicle in front of yours from its right side
· Extra cautious while approaching a junction
· Always give a right of way to vehicles already progressing
· Don’t horn in prohibited areas like hospital zones, school zones, etc.
· Use helmet while driving
· Use of zebra lines, avoid running while on road

She also educated children on various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety and helping victims of road accidents. She told them that in case of accident call police by dialing numbers: 100 & 108. Mrs. Sarika Kadam (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session.
