598 ROAD SAFETY SESSION FOR SLUM CHILDERN

Chinchwad (Pune), 8-May-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the Children at Ajantha Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 45 students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Limited.

The session started with the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator - DBDS). Mr. Dilip A. Bhosale (Police Inspector, Traffic Department) and his team were the resource persons for this session. The Resource Persons covered various topics on road safety such as:

· Obey Traffic rules
· Drive adjacent to the left side of the road
· Pass or overtake the vehicle in front of yours from its right side
· Extra cautious while approaching a junction
· Always give a right of way to vehicles already progressing
· Don’t horn in prohibited areas like hospital zones, school zones, etc.
· Use helmet while driving
· Use of zebra lines, avoid running while on road etc

They also educated children on various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety, keeping documents such as Driving license, Registration certificate, Taxation certificate, Insurance certificate, Fitness certificate while driving. They also educated students on helping victims of road accidents. In case of accidents always call police by dialing numbers: 100 & 108. Mrs. Vibhawari Kamble (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session.
