623 HEALTH RISK AWARENESS SESSION FOR SLUM WOMEN

Chinchwad (Pune), 18-May-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a health awareness session for the Self-Help Group women residing in Khadi Machine slum. 26 women participated in the session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported AXA Business Services.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Staff-DBDS) introduced the resource person and shared information about the project with the participants. Dr. Sanyukta Roy was the resource person for this session. The objective of this workshop was to educate women on the risky habit of consuming tobacco products and harmful effects of such habits. Dr. Roy covered various topics such as composition of tobacco, forms of tobacco, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with such habit. Mrs. Rajshree Deshkhire (Staff- DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session and organized women to participate in this session. Ms. Sarika Kadam (Staff- DBDS) proposed the vote of thanks at the end of session. After the session snacks were served to all.
