639 ANTI-TOBACCO CAMPAIGN: Health Awareness Session for Slum women

Mumbai, 8-June-2019:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized an awareness and interactive sessions on ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco and Gutkha chewing’ for the women in Dinbandu Nagar slum in Wadala. 31 women participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Mr. Sunil Pandhare (Staff- DBDS) welcomed the participants and resource person. Mr. Sunil Chawan was the resource person for this session. The objective of this session was to educate women on the risky habit of consuming tobacco products and harmful effects to such habits. Mr. Sunil covered various topics such as composition of tobacco, forms of tobacco, substance abuse in adolescent, effect on liver, kidney, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with it. Participants asked many questions which were all answered by the resource person. Ms. Sangeeta (Part Time Teacher -DBDS) made the logistical arrangement and gave vote of thanks.
