641 HEALTH RISK AWARENESS for Youth and Senior Citizen

Chinchwad (Pune), 20-June-2019:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco and Gutkha Chewing’ for the citizens in Indira Nagar slum under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Limited.

The programme started with the introduction of the resource person and staff by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator- DBDS). Dr. Narayan Jaibhai was the resource person for this workshop. The objective of this workshop was to educate youth on the risky habit of consuming tobacco products and harmful effects of such habit. 35 youth and senior citizen participated in this session.

Dr. Jaibhai covered various topics on composition of tobacco, history of tobacco, forms of tobacco, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with it. He also spoke about diabetes, heart related ailments and educated people on prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis. Participant asked many questions which were answered by the resource person. Mrs. Sarika Kadam (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session and organized participants for this session. After the session snacks were served to all.
