678 AXA Project: Road Safety Session for School Children

Chinchwad (Pune), 20-July-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the students of Fhakirbai Pansare Urdu School in Chinchwad. 65 Students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Limited.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator-DBDS) welcomed and introduce of the resource person. Mr. Santosh Manohar Patil (Assistant Police Inspector-Traffic) was the resource person for this session. He covered various topics on road safety such as:

• Obey Traffic rules
• Drive adjacent to the left side of the road
• Pass or overtake the vehicle in front of yours from its right side
• Extra cautious while approaching a junction
• Always give a right of way to vehicles already progressing
• Don’t horn in prohibited areas like hospital zones, school zones, etc.
• Use helmet while driving
• Use of zebra lines, avoid running while on road

He also educated children on various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety, keeping documents such as Driving license, Registration certificate, Taxation certificate, Insurance certificate, Fitness certificate while driving. He also urged students to help victims of road accidents by calling police on numbers: 100 & 108. Mrs. Sarika Kadam (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session. After the session snacks were served to all the students.
