687 AXA Project: Health Risk Awareness Session for School Girls

Chinchwad (Pune): 20-July-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a health awareness session for the adolescent girls of Municipal School in Chinchwad. 71 girls participated in the session held under the aegis of “Health Risk Reduction Project” supported AXA Business Services.

Ms. Sarika Kadam (Staff- DBDS) welcomed the participants and resource person. Mrs. Vidya Kale was the resource person for this session. The objective of the workshop was to educate adolescent girls on personal health, hygiene and sanitation, menstrual cycle and diet and nutrition. In the first session she spoke about physical changes, social and psychological changes, vulnerability to reproductive health risks, reproductive health rights, contraceptives, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual abuse, drug and substance abuse etc.

In the second session she covered topics on risks of consuming tobacco. This was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants asked questions which were answered by the resource person. Mrs. Sarika Kadam did the logistical arrangement for this event and organized girls to participate in this session. After the session the school principal proposed the vote of thanks.
