700 AXA Project: Road Safety Session for School Students

Chinchwad (Pune), 30-July-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the students of Sarswati Madhyamic School in Chinchwad. 110 Students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Limited.

Mr. Kalokhe (School teacher) welcomed everyone and introduced the resource person. Mr. Manisha Hable (Police Sub Inspector-Traffic Dept.) and her team took the session for students. They covered following topics:

• Obey Traffic rules
• Drive adjacent to the left side of the road
• Pass or overtake the vehicle in front of yours from its right side
• Extra cautious while approaching a junction
• Always give a right of way to vehicles already progressing
• Don’t horn in prohibited areas like hospital zones, school zones, etc.
• Use helmet while driving
• Use of zebra lines, avoid running while on road 

They also educated children on various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety, keeping documents such as Driving license, Registration certificate, Taxation certificate, Insurance certificate, Fitness certificate while driving. They urged students to help victims of road accidents by calling police on numbers: 100 & 108. Mrs. Rajshreee Deshkhire (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session. After the session snacks were served to all the students.
