704 MGL DISHA PROJECT: Teacher’s Training Workshop

Mumbai, 31-July-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a training workshop for the part time teachers. 20 teachers and 7 project staff participated in this training which was organized under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by MAHANAGAR GAS LIMITED.

Fr. Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director- DBDS) welcomed Ms Shamika Ranade and Ms Bindu Chaddha who were the resource persons for the workshop. In his opening address he gave an overview of the project and the importance of the activities related to education of children in slums. He thanked MGL for supporting this project.

In her interactive session Ms Shamika Ranade (Teacher’s Coordinator for the project) spoke about the qualities of a teacher and methods of teaching. She gave valuable inputs on how to teach students who come from different mediums and different backgrounds, preparing teaching- learning material (games, stories, lesson plans) and classroom management. The participants asked many questions which were all answered by her.

Second session was taken by Ms Bindu on classroom management, teaching style and motivational inputs to students. She also taught the teachers how to measure progress of a child and document it. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer-DBDS).
