706 ANTI-TOBACCO CAMPAIGN: Health Awareness Session for School Students

Mumbai, 17-Aug-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized an awareness and interactive sessions on ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco and Gutka chewing’ for the students of Shree Ganesh Madhyamika Vidhyalaya in Wadala (East). 112 students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Mr. Sunil Chawan (Nashabandi Mandal) was the resource person for this session. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer-DBDS) welcomed the participants and resource person. The objective of this session was to educate students on the risky habit of consuming tobacco products and harmful effects of such habits.

Mr. Sunil covered various topics such as composition of tobacco, forms of tobacco, substance abuse in adolescent, effect on liver, kidney, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with it. Students asked many questions which were all answered by the resource person. Mr. Sunil Pandhare (Staff- DBDS) along with his team did all the logistical arrangement, coordinated for this Session with the school authorities and also proposed the vote of thanks.
