713 FREE HEALTH CAMP FOR SLUM PEOPLE IN WADALA (EAST)

Mumbai, 15-Aug-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), organized a free health camp and eye check-up camp for the women and children residing in Giridhar Tambe Nagar slum in Wadala (East). 177 patients (3 children, 83 men and 91 women) were examined by the doctor in this camp held under the aegis of project supported by Auxilium India (Seregno-Italy); Special thanks to Chiara and Haitham.

The dignitaries present for this camp were three special guests from Italy: Mr Francesco, Mr Claudio and Ms Francesca. Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) personally supervised various activities of the health camp. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer - DBDS) welcomed the doctors and the para-medical staff. The objective of this health camp was to provide needed medical care to patients. Patients were screened for vision problem and anaemia using a symptoms questionnaire. Dr Abhishek Jandade, Dr.Tejes Kamble, Mr. Pramod Bhadavalkar and Mr. Sam Rushal along with 4 Nurses and 2 Medical Social workers from Fortis Hospital examined the patients during this health camp.

After the examination, the doctors distributed iron, vitamin tablets and skin ointment to patients who were anaemic and suffering from fungal infections. No Cataract patients were identified in this camp. The volunteers from the slum were extremely helpful in putting up chairs and tables, arranging water, visiting families in slums and informing them about the health camp and in managing the crowd. Local people were very happy with this health camp and praised the efforts of Auxilium India (Seregno-Italy). Mr. Sunil Pandhare (Staff-DBDS) along with his team did the logistical arrangement for this camp.
