715 AXA PROJECT: Road Safety Session for School Children

Chinchwad (Pune), 16-Aug-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the students of Jay Bhavani School in Chinchwad. 86 Students participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services.

Mr. Santosh Manohar Patil (Assistant Police Inspector-Traffic) was the resource person for this session. He covered various topics on road safety such as:
• Obey Traffic rules
• Drive adjacent to the left side of the road
• Pass or overtake the vehicle in front of yours from its right side
• Extra cautious while approaching a junction
• Always give a right of way to vehicles already progressing
• Don’t horn in prohibited areas like hospital zones, school zones, etc.
• Use helmet while driving
• Use of zebra lines, avoid running while on road

Mr Patil also educated children on various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety. He also urged students to help victims of road accidents by calling police on numbers: 100 & 108. Mrs. Sarika Kadam (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session. Program ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator-DBDS). After the session snacks were served to all the students.
