728 INCOME GENERATION TRAINING FOR SLUM WOMEN

Chinchwad (Pune), 17-Aug-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a five days training workshop on ‘Baking skills and Bakery products’ for the Self-Help Group (SHG) women from Dutta Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 16 SHG members completed the entire training held from 13th to 17th August under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator-DBDS) introduced the resource persons and shared information about the project with the participants. The objective of this training was to impart skills and knowledge on micro business for supplementary income to the families connected to the project. The training was held in association with ‘Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ which is a government recognized training institution.

Mrs. Vasudha Dalavi (Sr. Technical staff) and Mrs. Lalita Mahajan (Jr. Technical Staff) were the resource persons. During the training 15 different kinds of Bakery product were taught to participants. These included bread, Mhaska Pav, Pizza Base, Donut, different types of cookies, Nankatai, Black forest cake, Doll cake, Tea time cake & Pineapple cake etc. Participants of the training were selected based on an interview. The trainers also conducted session on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product.
