732 AXA Project: Health Risk Education for Adolescent Girls

Chinchwad (Pune), 24-Aug-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a health awareness session for the adolescent girls of Marhum Phakirbhai Pansare Vidyalaya located near Chinchwad railway station in Pune. 45 girls participated in the session held under the aegis of “Health Risk Reduction Project” supported AXA Business Services.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator- DBDS) welcomed the participants and resource person. Mrs. Rutuja Joshi was the resource person for this session. She covered following topics in her lecture:

· Impact of adolescent physical, sexual, and social development
· Contraception, infertility, sexually transmitted diseases
· Sexual violence, and sex trafficking
· Family planning services; social, cultural, political, and ethical barriers
· Cervical cancer screening, and menopause
· AIDS and HIV infection, risk factors, and social context for adolescent
· Personal cleanliness and hygiene 

In the second session the resource person covered topics on risks of consuming tobacco. This was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants asked questions which were answered by the resource person. Mrs. Sarika Kadam (Staff- DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this event and organized girls to participate in this session.
