Vadodara (Gujarat), 15-Aug-2019: Roshni Don Bosco celebrated the Independence day and the festival of Raksha Bandhan with children in the slum of Vadodara. This program was held under the aegis of ‘Children Education Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain.

Around 320 children from different slum areas participated in this event. It was the first event after major floods that hit Vadodara city this month. Some girls brought handmade Rakhis and tied Rakhis to boys (whereas some girls made rakhi in the class itself) and the boys pledged to take care and protect them. Children took special interest in making Indian national flag. They made paper flag on this occasion.

The day was marked with remembering freedom fighters and saluting the national Flag. It was a moment of pride for the children to watch tricolour unfurl in their own locality. Children came with their own flags made of paper to celebrate this national festival. After the event sweets were distributed to all the children. All these children are part of the ‘Children Education Project’ and they attend the remedial classes every day.
