808 MGL DISHA PROJECT: Income Generation Training for Slum Women

Mumbai, 11-Oct-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a two days training workshop on 11th and 12th October on ‘culinary and catering skills’ for the Self-Help Group (SHG) women residing in the Dhobighat slum in Sion Koliwada. 30 women completed the entire training which was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer-DBDS) introduced the resource person and shared information about the project with the participants. The objective of this training was to impart skills and knowledge on micro business for supplementary income to the families connected to this project. Mrs. Manjula Bhagawat was the resource person. During the training, 11 different kinds of recipes were taught to participants. These included Bread Roll, Dhokala, Momos, Vegetarian Kabab, Frankie, Shezwan Chatney, Green Chatney, Tomato Chatney, Kotambir Vadi, Medu Vada, Healthy Protein Dosa, etc.

Participants of the training were selected based on an interview. In the second session the trainer conducted session on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product. Ms. Basanti Solanki (Staff-DBDS) mobilized women to attend the training programme. She also proposed the vote of thanks.
