813 MGL DISHA PROJECT: Income Generation Training in Wadala

Mumbai, 14-Oct-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a two-days training workshop on ‘Fancy Candle and Incense Sticks Making’ for 25 women from Ganesh Nagar slum in Wadala. This training programme was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

The objective of this training was to impart skills and knowledge on fancy candle and incense stick making as micro business for supplementary income of the families connected to this project. Mrs. Manjula Bhagawat was the resource person. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer-DBDS) welcomed the resource person and participants and explained the purpose of the training. During the training the participants learnt to make 5 different items; Ice candle, Gel candle, Wax candle, Floating candle with incense stick.

The participants were also taught marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product. The participants dedicatedly learnt the skills and were determined to start a small business. Mr. Sunil Pandhare (Staff-DBDS) arranged this event and also proposed the vote of thanks at the end.
