Chinchwad (Pune), 19-Oct-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a free health and eye check-up camp for the residents of Ambedkar Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 68 (40 women, 25 Male and 3 children) people were examined by the doctors in this camp held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services. 

A team of doctors and para-professionals from Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital and H.V. Desai Hospital consisting of Dr. Subhash Munot (M.B.B.S) and Dr. Sharad Shinde (Ophthalmologist) along with two Nurses and one Medical Social worker examined the patients. B.P and oral cancer detection tests were done for all the patients. Most of the patients were diagnosed to be suffering from joint pain, flu, back pain, gastric problem, skin infections etc.

Four Cataract patients were identified in this camp who will be treated free of cost in H.V. Desai Hospital. Free medicines were distributed to patients with illness and people with defective eyesight were given spectacles at nominal price. Few patients were also referred to Aditya Birla Hospital and H.V. Desai Hospitals for further treatment. Mrs. Vibhawari Kamble (Staff- DBDS) did all the logistical arrangement and canvassing for this health camp.
