827 MGL DISHA PROJECT: Income Generation Training for Slum Women

Mumbai, 18-Oct-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a two days training on 17th and 18th October on ‘Cooking & Catering skills’ for the Self-Help Group (SHG) women residing at LBS Nagar in Andheri (East). This training was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Ms. Zarina Khan (DBDS-Staff) mobilized the women to attend this training programme. The objective of training was to impart skills and knowledge for supplementary income to the families connected with this project. 33 women completed the entire training. Mrs. Manjula Bhagawat was the resource person. During the training 10 different kinds of snacks were taught to participants. These included Khova Karanji, Raagi laddu, Soyabin Chakali, Pizza Mathari, Chocolate fuzz, Banana chips etc.

Participants of the training were selected based on an interview. The trainer also conducted session on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Ms. Zarina Khan.
