Mumbai – 10/May/2016: The Don Bosco Development Society (Matunga, Mumbai) organized a half day training programme on self-defense for women from the nearby slums. There were 78 women who participated in this programme from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm in the Provincial House building. The main resource person was Mr. Parshuram Gaonkar, a well experienced officer from the Civil Defense Department (Mumbai Division).

The programme which was well executed consisted of practical tips which will help women to defend themselves courageously when they are in danger. All those who participated were very happy and satisfied with the kind of input and training imparted. The women, most of them from the slums around (Matunga, Wadala & Sion) need this kind of training, as they are in constant trouble especially when they are ragged and harassed by the dominant males in their societies. Assured that now they can confidently and courageously fight back such trouble, all the participants went away fulfilled and satisfied thanking Don Bosco Development Society for this enriching opportunity.
